Faculty, staff and students may hear a large explosion around noon on Friday, July 18, as 500 pounds of explosives are detonated at Fort Jackson as part of a training exercise involving the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Department of Education. Officials expect the explosion to be heard well beyond Fort Jackson's boundaries.
