EPMS for Supervisors
(Employee Performance Management System)

This workshop is intended to be a dialogue and collective problem-solving process on managing performance using the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS).  Using an interactive, practical approach, we will discuss methods and options for effectively using the EPMS process as an instrument for communicating and providing performance feedback, setting expectations by developing a meaningful planning stage document and measuring performance using S.M.A.R.T. and effective success criteria.  This workshop is a “must” for all supervisors and a prerequisite for all management development workshops. Participants will learn:

  • how to effectively manage performance throughout the review period
  • three components of the Perormance Management System
  • how to evaluate employee performance
  • how to develop a meaningful planning stage document with effective success criteria (all participants should bring bring a copy of a Position Description of an employee they are currenlty supervising in order to complete this exercise)
  • how to distinguish between three different performance levels and choose the appropriate performance rating
  • key policy facts

Who Should Attend
This workshop is required for all supervisors of classified and unclassified, non-academic employees. Due to policy updates and changes, all supervisors are strongly encouraged to attend, even those who have had EPMS training prior to January 2012.

  • January 22, 2013, from 9 a.m.-Noon
  • February 14 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
  • March 12 from 9 a.m.-Noon
  • April 4 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
  • May 9 from 9 a.m.-Noon
  • June 5 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
  • July 11 from 9 a.m.-Noon

For morning sessions, participants should arrive at 8:45 a.m. Instruction will begin at 9 a.m.

For afternoon sessions, participants should arrive at 1:15 p.m. Instruction will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Cost
There is no charge for this workshop.

Location and Parking
1600 Hampton Street, Suite 101.

Campus parking is available with any faculty/staff decal in the lower lot behind the 1600 Hampton Street Annex. The entrance to the parking lot is between the 1600 Hampton Street tower and the WACH-57 building on Pickens Street.
