The Purchasing Workshop

The Purchasing Workshop offers an overview of USC Purchasing policies and addresses issues related to ethics and the legal aspects of purchasing equipment materials and supplies for the University. During this half-day workshop participants will gain an understanding of both the State and University guidelines employees must follow when making purchases. Participants will learn how to:

  • use University Purchasing forms appropriately
  • route paperwork correctly to assure timely processing
  • locate and apply the mandatory procedures associated with SC Consolidated Procurement Code laws and regulations
  • make large expenditures that may require bidding or documentation for sole source
  • apply tax options accurately when purchasing research equipment
  • use University VISA Cards and assure every purchase is done right.

Who Should Attend
University employees who are new to the use of purchasing and accounts payable functions or want to increase their knowledge of USC's internal operating procedures.

October 22, 2008, 8:45 a.m.–noon
April 21, 2009, 1:15–4:30 p.m.

For morning sessions, participants should arrive to sign-in at 8:45 a.m. Instruction will begin at 9 a.m.

For afternoon sessions, participants should arrive to sign-in at 1:15 p.m. Instruction will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Cost
There is no charge for this workshop.

Location and Parking
1600 Hampton Street, Suite 101.

Campus parking is available with any faculty/staff decal in the lower lot behind the 1600 Hampton Street Annex. The entrance to the parking lot is between the 1600 Hampton Street tower and the WACH-57 building on Pickens Street.
