Notification of Weather-Related Schedule Changes
When weather affects the University of South Carolina Columbia
Campus operating schedule, the University normally follows directions issued
by the Governor for state agencies.
However, because faculty, staff and students travel to campus from across the state, the University administration may decide independent of any state decision that a delayed opening or closing is necessary.
Information about delayed openings
or closings will be posted on the Internet at www.sc.edu as soon as it is available.
During non-work hours, employees and students who miss media broadcasts
can call the USC Columbia Emergency Information Network at 803-777-5700 for a recorded message on delayed openings or closings.
E-mail notifications also are sent out by the Division of Human Resources. For instructions on how to register for e-mail notification of
emergency weather advisories, go to: http://hr.sc.edu/advisory.html.
To obtain current information on hazardous weather notifications affecting
the state, go to the State Employees Weather Alert web page
at http://www.scemd.org/scgovweb/weather_alert.html.
